Democracy by this Administration and it's predecessors are no more than lip service. Take away the CPZ for a moment and look at an issue close to my heart and probably a few of you who are either disabled, looking after a disabled person or who is Elderly or looking after an elderly person. This Council in it's wisdom chose to ignore the wishes of the people despite protests against being charged for the privelige of being disabled or elderly. Think this way for a moment. Do you pay to get up? Do you pay to Wash? Do you pay to get dressed? Would you want to pay to use a day care centre to alleviate boredom at home or your cares role? Well our Illustious Council (Current and Previous Administrations) seem to think that They should be charged for the privelige. I put it to you that though legally the council could charge, legislation said they did not have to. Now back to our issue of Democracy and the fact they are trying to charge us for the privelige of living in our borough with a car. They can legally charge though they do not have to. I strongly suggest to you all, that you watch these "Elected Members" very closely in the next few months. You will find that though they say one thing, they will go and do the opposite, despite the resounding NO! This Council is NOT Democratic in attitude but Despotic or Tyrannical (take your pick of the choice of words). They do not want to hear your views. Look at what happened when people said NO! to Northwood and the CPZ they introduced there! Did they listen to the people? NO! Are they Listening now? NO! Look at the way Councillor Bianco acted at the Meeting that was held in Fair Field Hall, he lounged in his chair and was blatantly ignoring what was being said. When I took him to task about the other two councillors attending a Tenants and Residents meeting, pointing out he had ignored requests to attend and not bothered to respond to letters or phone calls. Is Councillor Bianco to be trusted as an elected Official of this borough for our Wards? I think not. This is is one of the reasons that night I told the Councillors to look to their Laurels if they want electing again Is Councillor Bishop to be trusted? I think not. "Why not?" I hear you ask. Well let's look again at the meeting. Was he making notes? NO! Was he contributing to the meeting? NO! When recently approached to sign in support or against the CPZ what did he do? Hung his head out of a window refusing to sign. I put to you that Councillors Bishop and Bianco in reality will vote For this proposal to go ahead despite the ground swell of opinion against the entire proposal of the CPZ. These attitudes are not of elected officials listening in a democratic way or acting in our interests, but in feathering their little nests and ignoring the wishes of the majority of the people. We have shown that we can get a survey on the go, results in Fast and knw the public's opinion in our wards in a very short time. Here we have a council who has "Screwed up", wasted Council Tax money using a company that has failed before without improvement. If I knew how to run for Council and represent the true feelings of the electorate I would with no party allegience. These elected members put Party first not the Electorate. Just think about that the next time they come knocking on your door canvassing your vote (not that I have seen it done here in this neck of the woods) or wanting that vote. Councillors - I say it again "Look to your Laurels elections are not too far off!" you are democratically elected to represent us, you are doing a poor job of it, we can democratically un-elect you!
