Even though we have had a totally useless consultation, let us think of how lucky we were that we got one at all. I was in Uxbridge at Civic Centre just recently and one of my matters involved disability issues. Whilst waiting patiently to be seen I took a look at the leaflets in the Main entrance Lobby and you would not believe what I found. There was a leaflet discussing how the council was going to remove the disabled parking bays by the Station and make them into taxi ranks, moving the bays onto a steep slope which was totally inadequate for wheel chair users. PLEASE NOTE!! That the consultation process date was past!!! Needless to say this was a red rag to this bull. I contacted both the Conservative and Labour Groups. The Conservatives never got back in touch (Surprise surprise!), Councillors Major and Gardner of Labour had not seen nor heard of the consultation (nor the disability groups) until I brought it to their attention and with their help fought against it. The traffic services chap used a wheel chair (loaned mine as I am a casual user) and found out that after just 2 hours he was knackered, we have to use them either permanently, or like me casually. with or with out shopping, with or withouot helpers. Needless to say meetings were held and the "Officials" had to back down, they were shown alternatives that THEY ADMITTED hadnt thought of! So BE VIGILANT! Watch your backs, as this council WILL SNEAK things in through the back door with or without informing you! BE VIGILANT! Dont trust your councillors for this area! A Councillor at a recent Tenants and Residents Meeting was all for penalising the motorist - Documented. That councillor is the One who hung out of a window on a recent survey on CPZ's when asked for support. A certain councillor has been invited to meetings and did not have the decency to turn up or respond to correspondence. Does this ring a bell Mr Bianco? Why Should we trust 2 out of the 3 councillors? Why should we trust Traffic Services? BE Wary of what Councillors or the Council Officials say to your face and do behind your back!
