The reward for all those years of loyal Conservative voting is the Conservatives forcing eco-freak anti car vendettas on you, which will be very aggravating and very expensive. The truth is that Ray Puddifoot and Mike Heywood view our campaigns against their CPZ programme with mild amusement, because under the Cabinet system of local government, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOEVER THAT CAN STOP THEM. It's not like the old days when you could put pressure on local councillors and get them to vote against what's happening when it comes to full council. The decision on each CPZ is Mike Heywood's and his alone. The council can make him revisit his decision, but it cannot make him change it. So how can we react? How can we stop the people we elected treating us with total contempt? The CPZ programme is hurtling forward with alarming speed, and while we protest, borough engineers just carry on and then we find the signs and lines outside our houses, and the nightmare has begun. But there ARE effective things we can do, however much it hurts us. 1) We need every voter in Northwood Hills who is outraged by what is happening to send a letter or an email to Ray Puddifoot and to their ward councillors telling them that they will not vote Conservative at the next borough elections. 2) The Liberal Democrats COULD stop this if they wanted to. The Tories rule Hilingdon because the Liberal Democrats allow them to. So the Lib Dems also need an email telling them that you will not vote Conservative or Liberal Democrat at the next borough elections if CPZs go ahead. 3) Make sure you are present at the Full Council meeting on March 13th to show the strength of public revulsion at what the people we voted for are doing. Finally, if we're not going to vote Tory or Lib Dem, how then do we vote? Surely, the time has come for Independent councillors. We've had enough of tyranny and arrogance. We want people who genuinely represent the local people who voted for them. You can send you email to ALL councillors and the local press by using the email address cpz@councilsgonemad.com If you want your email published in the Gazette, you need to add your address. All your email needs to say is: I live in Northwood Hills. If the CPZ goes ahead, I will not vote Conservative or Liberal Democrat at the next local elections.
