Dear Mr Heywood

We have been residents of Hillside Gardens for approximately ten years and have been helping with the campaign against having the proposed parking scheme implemented in Northwood Hills. We have, over the last week or so, had our thoughts confirmed that most people in Northwood Hills are completely opposed to this ill thought out blanket scheme.

We and a number of others have spent the last week walking around Northwood Hills during the days and evenings covering, in depth, various roads within the proposed boundary of the scheme, to gauge opinion, ask if people had received and sent back their consultation document to the council and present them with a questionnaire of our own.

As far as the parking scheme is concerned, nearly all of the people that we have spoken to were firmly against it for various reasons.  I was staggered at how many people in the Pinner Road , between the Joel Street roundabout and the Harrow boundary (Councilor Retter’s road I believe), had still not received consultation forms from the council. All of the people that we spoke with in that road, apart from one, were against the scheme. Many roads including Hillside Gardens , Stanley Road and Alandale Drive are almost unanimously against the scheme. We do not have a parking problem in these, or any of the surrounding roads and I suspect that this is the case in nearly all of the roads within the consultation boundary. I feel irritated and appalled at the thought that we and many others have had to give up our valuable time to prove this point; it is disgusting that we have had to do this.

As well as the consultation document, we and many others have been carrying out road by road surveys, some of which have already been sent to you, the rest will be delivered to the Civic Centre on Monday. Within the consultation area, we asked the question “Do you want the council’s controlled parking zone scheme in your road, yes or no?”, an extremely large majority have said no.  How much more proof do you need Mr Heywood? This scheme is not needed or wanted in Northwood Hills as it isn’t in other parts of Hillingdon.

It is unreasonable and unfair to impose this scheme upon the people of Northwood Hills - by now you must have been able to gauge the negative response towards it.   We therefore ask you to withdraw this proposed scheme completely.

Please respond to this e-mail as this proposed parking scheme greatly affects many people’s lives.

Yours sincerely
