Dear Sir / Madam,
Re : Controlled Parking Scheme.
This proposal is outrageous !!
I have been a resident for ten years and there has never been a parking problem whatsoever. One of the reasons that we bought the property was that it had off street parking, the road was wide and there were no parking problems!
Hence I was absolutely astonished when the ‘controlled parking’ proposal dropped through my letterbox.
The problem roads are well known to you and I have no objection to a scheme being implemented there if the residents so wish.
This is simply another thinly disguised attempt to swell the council coffers and impose "control" on the residents.
Despite extensive discussions with numerous people I have yet to find any residents in favour of this proposal. I have personally spoken to 95% of the residents of Lincoln Road and Rochester Road and only found one person who was in favour of the scheme !
The Council should represent the views of the residents.
It is certainly not wanted or required in this area and it will be an absolute travesty of democracy if this is forced on the residents against their will.
These are the very people whom you are supposed to represent. You will have let them down badly.
I would like to finish on a more positive note.
At least you have united the community.
We are now all fully committed to opposing this scheme and find ourselves having talks and discussions with previously unknown neighbours and ‘streetmates’!!
We are also all starting to take much more of an interest in local council issues and look forward to playing a much more active role in future.
Yours Faithfully,
